Tehran gallery to pay tribute to father of modern painting in Iran

TEHRAN -- The Barg Gallery will host a commemoration ceremony for Jalil Ziapur, the father of Iranian modern painting on November 10.
Artists Parviz Kalantari and Tuka Maleki will deliver speech on the art of the artist during the event.Ziapur (1920-1999), also a known as a prominent art researcher, is considered as the father of Iranian modern painting. He had also carried out wide research on Iran’s anthropology, folklore, traditional costumes and the decorative designs in different regions of the country.
He had presented over 80 lectures and more than 70 articles in various seminars in Iran and several other countries. He is also author of 28 books.
Ziapur’s paintings are famous for their original Iranian themes, simple figures, pleasing composition and unique styles.
A collection of Ziapur’s paintings is currently on display in an exhibit at the Barg Gallery located on 13 Jamali St., off Vafamanesh Ave. near the Heravi Square.
The exhibit runs until November 24.
